Last Night, I was feeling really unmotivated to make anything that required too much effort. Luckily, I still had some mozzarella cheese in the fridge, as well as some spaghetti sauce from Trader Joe’s, fresh basil, and an extra baguette in the freezer (tip: if you get a take & bake baguette from your grocery store bakery, you can freeze any that you do not use & can thaw when needed). So I decided to make French Bread Pizza! I love how easy it is to make, as well as how it is a perfect portion for the two of us. A small baguette cut in two makes two good size French Bread Pizzas and is very easy to throw together in 20 minutes from start to finish! Plus the crunch of the baked baguette and the fresh toppings can rival any pizza you could pick up from a pizza chain! Enjoy!
FRENCH BREAD PIZZA
- 1 french roll or baguette, sliced in half
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2-1 cup of spaghetti or tomato sauce (depends on how much you want on yours)
- fresh basil (if available)
- any of your favorite toppings for pizzas (I like green and black olives!)
- garlic powder
- salt & pepper
Preheat oven to 400F.
Place bread on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, until lightly browned. This will keep it from getting soggy later.
After the 10 minutes, put the sauce, garlic powder, salt & pepper, toppings, and cheese on your bread. Then bake the french bread pizza in oven for 5-7 minutes.
Set oven to BROIL and broil for 2-4 minutes until cheese is browned.
There ya go! Easy & delicious dinner!
