In the Middle of the Night

My Mom has night terrors. It is a running joke in our family. Once while traveling with our siblings Lindsay and Kyle, she sat up while still asleep, pointed to the corner, and ominious asked “who’s that??!” Needless to say Lindsay and Kyle were freaked out, thinking that someone was hiding in the corner. This weekend, I experienced her night terrors for the first time. I was reading in bed (I have become an insomniac as of late) when I heard her terrified shriek come from the other room. Of course, I waited several minutes before finally bracing myself to go see what was the matter (was it a bear that somehow got into the cottage? A intruder? The possibilities are endless when it is 2 a.m. and you are running on little sleep). Fortunately it was just a bad dream.  Anyone else suffer from night terrors? Have you ever woken up screaming or kicking? I actually recently woke up punching the air and screaming–but that was the first and last time.
