While writing my earlier post where I mentioned Animaniacs, I was reminded of one of the other classic films I loved as a kid, “Rock-A-Doodle.” I feel like lately I rarely meet people who remember watching this as a kid, which I think is a complete tragedy. Yes, tragedy. Because what child could have grown up in a world where they didn’t realize roosters could be an Elvis-like hero who helped scare away the rain?? And that they had to fear owls who would turn them from children into cartoon creatures with some freaky psychedelic swirls of magic (or possibly drugs)?? I loved and of course was a little scared of this movie as a kid, which I feel was a requirement for a majority of my favorite childhood movies (um, hello “Labyrinth!” I’m definitely writing about that one next).
Anyone else out there watch “Rock-A-Doodle” as a kid?
